Earlier this year I was brought on to design a logo for Linkmont Technologies located in Denver, CO. It took us a lot of rounds to get this perfected as the client originally had something else in mind and it eventually morphed into this. I am very happy with the end result and they did a great job with the overall branding.

United Country Brochures

Recently I did some freelance for United Country. It's always a pleasure to work with them, and the other day I received some samples of the brochures I designed. I had complete creative freedom to come up with a design within their guidelines.

The first brochure is an 8-pg brochure, saddle stitched. The middle one is a 4 page brochure. And the last one is a 6 page tri-fold brochure. I am very happy with how they turned out.

80s Birthday Party

I don't know how some ladies in blogland make it look so easy. Planning a party, and putting it together is hard! I had all these grand ideas about how it would come together and look at the party and I only made it about 80% of the way. The main thing I don't have mastered yet, is time management. I really wanted to have everything set up 30 minutes prior to the event so I could take some detailed photos without people in them, but I had no such luck. Thankfully my mom was able to get some photos for me.

I was contacted last month by Amanda, from kevinandamanda.com, and was over the moon excited!!!!!!! I'm sure you all know about her, and if you don't then you need to get over then NOW! Not only does she blog about wonderful things, she also has FREE fonts. I have used a lot of her fonts in some of my designs and that's how she heard of me. I email her back in January to thank her for her free service and sent her some of my designs so she could see her fonts being used.

So when she emailed me last month I was so flattered. At first she just wanted business cards for a big blog event in August, but after further discussion we came to the conclusion that she needed a logo before we could design cards. It was great working with her, but a little intimidating as she is somewhat of a font guru and so well known in the blogging community. But I'm thrilled to say that after only three rounds I nailed it!

Road Trip

For my sisters 21st birthday last month we gave her tickets to go see Michael Buble. However it was in Kansas City (a 9 hour drive). She was supposed to go to the one here in Denver, but in the end the tickets fell through. So the closest one after that was in Kansas. Which really worked out because I have a friend who moved back there earlier this year and we were able to have a place to stay and a amazing host!!!!

Another plus about going to Kansas City was being able to stop by Bloom Baking Co, who I designed a logo for. I surprised them and was able to see all my branding and meet the fabulous owners. Not to mention try their delicious food. OMG, it was so good. My mom couldn't stop talking about how good it was.

A murder mystery logo

I was recruited by my mom to help out her murder mystery group with a new logo and business card. And since my parents put me through college, they get my design services for free! :)

This group host upscale murder mystery parties for business groups or parties, and recently booked with a hotel to do a show once a month. So the logo needed to convey the Mystery and problem solving, but also be classy and appeal to a fancier adult crowd.

I had this vision for a girl sitting with a magnifying glass but struggled with finding and creating the right silhouette. However, today I was at my mom's dance rehearsal and she had the perfect costume, wig and hat on so I took some pictures of her in different poses and then traced in Illustrator. It turned out perfect and just the way I imagined.

I recently completed a custom wedding set that I am really proud of. I worked closely with the bride to accomplish exactly what she wanted, and they turned out beautifully. The set is enclosed in a pocket that matches the envelope. Inside the pocket is the invite, information card, directions and reply postcard. We also added rhinestone stickers to the sky to add some sparkle and give some dimension. Don't you think they turned out amazing?

My Grandma will be celebrating her 80th birthday in October, and we are having a big birthday bash. Since most of the guests will be from out of town we wanted to send out save the dates so people could start buying plane tickets and planning ahead.

I kept it really simple as the invite will be elaborate and have all the detailed information. I can't wait to start printing!

I am currently working on a new logo for a client called The Rhizosphere. It's for a new garden supply store. If you're not familiar, the rhizisphere isn't just a cool name for a logo but actually the name of the layer of dirt.

rhi·zo·sphere – noun: the area of soil that surrounds the roots of a plant and is altered by the plant's root growth, nutrients, respiration, etc

Pantone just released their Fall Fashion Color Report for 2010. Go here to check it out and download your own free copy of the report.

I can't decide which color I like best. I think it's the Chocolate Truffle, Lagoon or Endive. But when I look at the color combination's and designs the fashion designers put together my favorite seems to be Lipstick Red and Living Coral. Check out the three below that really stood out to me.

I was approached a few weeks ago by the nicest lady who was struggling to find the right branding for their company. They had been working with another designer who just didn't understand what the client wanted. So needless to say they were very stressed and had lost a little faith in designers. Thankfully a friend of mine referred me and we hit it off right away. I understood what they wanted and I am thrilled I was able to work with them. Below are a few options I provided them with, along with a color palette (since they were struggling with that as well). I love working on logos, and it's not always easy taking what's in the clients mind and putting it on paper. But this time it went flawlessly. Last year I ordered a calendar from Ruff House Art, http://ruffhouseart.blogspot.com/, that I loved. I especially loved the case and how easy it was to store and display. Well, the year is over and I decided to reuse the case for my sisters Christmas present. My sister mentioned that she needed to start collecting some recipes, and there were a few of mine that are her favorite.

So for her present I designed 4 recipe card designs and printed 16 of her favorite recipes of mine and our families. This case is wonderful because she can easily store it and then display the recipe she is cooking without having to touch the recipe card and get it dirty.

I love this idea so much, that I will soon be adding this product to my etsy store.

Thanksgiving Invitation/Information Card

This is my first year hosting Thanksgiving, so I decided to send out an invitation to my Thanksgiving dinner (I'll find any excuse to design cards). It's more like an information card really. I already know who's coming, but I wanted everyone on the same page. In years past we are trying to figure out last minute what time we should be at the house and if we should bring anything. So since both families will be there I wanted to minimize confusion and let everyone know what they should bring. Inside each card were the items on a separate card that I wanted the person/couple to bring. I am getting very anxious for Thanksgiving Day and hope everything goes smoothly. And everything is edible...ha ha!

Halloween Invite

These are my Halloween Invites for our family party. I love how these turned out, and like them even more because I didn't have to spend any money on them. I already had the paper, envelopes, wax sealer and rhinestone stickers (for the eye).

I decided to go with a bird/Gothic/vintage theme since Emma, my sister and I will all be some type of a bird for Halloween. My next task is to find some neat Bird-like decorations for house.

This is a logo I created for Little Blessings Early Learning Center for a church in Colorado Springs. The first logo is the one they picked, and the bottom logo is the other one they were trying to decide upon. It was a lot of fun working on this logo!

Emma's 2nd Birthday Invite

Emma loves Finding Nemo, Little Mermaid and Spongebob. So we are having an under the water (pool party) theme. But Nemo was my inspiration. I wanted the invites to represent Nemo without being so obvious and not like anything you could buy in the store. It is a self-mailer on iridescent teal paper.

Colorado School of Mines: International Office

I was asked about a month ago to come up with a logo for the International Student and Scholar Services Office at Colorado School of Mines. The challenge was to make it fit in with the other branding at Mines, but I couldn't' use/alter any of their existing logos. We liked the idea of the world, but some of the other concepts looked too much like a logo for an airport and not a school. Then the client came to me with the idea of a world inside a mountain, because the mountains are so prominent in the Mines way of life. That was very difficult at first, but I finally arrived to this concept which was a home run! The only problem was we couldn't decide which color combination to use. So they want both options as both are Mines school colors and all within their design guidelines. This was so fun but challenging to work on, but it was very rewarding as well!

Wedding Programs

I went to Laura and Casey's wedding last Saturday. It was beautiful. Laura looked gorgeous, Casey was very handsome and happy, and the view from the location was amazing! This is the wedding that I have done the Save the Dates, Wedding Invitations and Programs. You can see the other images in earlier posts. It was a great pleasure to help them make their wedding come together. I love weddings!

Graduation Party

Last month my brother in-law graduated from Metro State College and he had a party to celebrate. He wanted the invites to be urban and represent downtown Denver because that is where the college is located. I love how they turned out.

Fly Fishing Save the Dates

A friend of mine refered a client to me who had a very clear idea of what she wanted for her Save the Dates. Her fiance is very outdoorsy and loves fly fishing. She wanted it to say "She's Hooked" and have an image of a fisherman on there. She wanted green paper and brown type/ink. It was a great pleasure to work on these and help someone take their idea and translate it to paper. I love how these turned out and she is also very happy with them. I hope to get the chance to work on her wedding invites as well.

Coed Barbeque Baby Shower

I recently designed a baby shower invite for a coed barbecue shower. The couple is having a girl, so they still wanted to incorporate pink, and since the shower is in Fall then the brown has a fall feel and a masculine color. On a few of the designs I used a star because it is a gender friendly graphic, and also the baby's bedding is stars. The checkered pattern came from the concept of the barbeque to add a masculine touch. And for fun, I designed one with a cow print. Also a little more gender friendly but still chic!

Pie

I had fun designing this logo. And it was easy as pie! :) The name came from Maggie growing up being called Magpie, then being shortened to Pie. She someday wants to have a clothing line. My favorite part of the design is the "star" above the I. It represents the pie slits when you bake a pie. But used in a less obvious way.

Birthday Invite

This birthday invitation was created for Emma's first birthday. Since 1st birthdays tend to be more for adults than children, I wanted it to be a little more sophisticated than childish, but still have a child theme. Also, in the pocket I wanted to show pictures of Emma throughout her first year of life, and give information on milestones and things she likes. Which will also help with present ideas. And, of course, directions to our home. I love creating invitations, so any opportunity I can find to create something special, I take!
